Tackling the “yob” culture

Excessive weekend drinking and late night noise is a real concern in Winchester. I would like to praise those local publicans who are making strides to tackle the issues and support the introduction of an enforced levy for those pubs and clubs which are failing to take a responsible attitude. In addition, I will continue my partnership with the city council and meet with the local police and publicans to find further ways of reducing problems. 

Bishop's Waltham police petition

In response to a recent local petition I met with senior police officers to discuss better local police cover for Bishop’s Waltham. I am pleased to report that an extra two police officers will now be coming to the area. There's still a lot more to be done; but it's a step in the right direction. Under the Liberal Democrats, Winchester would get a further 50 police and community support offices to back up the exisiting force.
