Keep Our Community Spirit: There is a worrying trend emerging under the Labour Government that is slowly but surely chipping away at our communities – post office closures; planning laws etc. I am strongly opposed to anything that takes decision making and independence away from local communities for issues that will affect them.
Axe the Council Tax: The Council Tax penalises pensioners and people on low incomes. They pay a far higher proportion of their income in tax than the very rich. A Local Income Tax is based very simply on ability to pay. It would run through the existing Inland Revenue Income Tax mechanisms – so saving hundreds of millions – while at the same time ensuring that the typical household and pensioner pay hundreds of pounds less.
