Following the news that the Government has refused to set up a compensation fund for Charities, such as Naomi House, who lost millions of pounds when the Icelandic banks collapsed MP Mark Oaten has expressed his disbelief.
Mark Oaten MP said:
“I am astonished that the Government have decided to treat charities like Naomi house in this way.”
“For years Naomi house has been doing Government’s work for it by taking on the care of sick children when the NHS refused to fund hospices - now in its time of need the Government are still not prepared to accept they have a duty to help sick children.”
“The very least we expect is for either the Department of Health or The Treasury is to offer direct financial help. I will re double my efforts to get them to think again.”
