In his letter to the various parties he reports that his constituents have complained about an hour long wait when trying to leave Winchester to use the roundabout. Over the last couple of months there have been a number of incidents which have resulted in gridlock in the City, due largely to the inability of getting traffic out of Winchester via Winnall.
Mark is also calling on Tesco's and Homebase to use their commercial influence behind some changes to the road layout. The letter asks for some creative solutions to be put in place and better use of existing lanes as well as possible changes in the frequency of the traffic lights, or an additional slip road.
At the moment commenting on his letters Mark said "I have suffered many times myself when trying to leave Winchester via this roundabout. It is becoming worse and I know that it is very irritating to discover that not all drivers are using all the lanes available to them as they approach the Winnall roundabout.
There have also been well recorded problems from the A34 accessing the roundabout, but people should not ignore the problems of Easton Lane which I believe are becoming more extreme.
I hope that all parties will come together to see if there are any simple quick fix solutions to this problem."
