Following the news that the Barclays Bank in Weeke is set to close on October 24th, Martin Tod and Mark Oaten MP have called for a free cash machine service to be continued and are contacting Barclays, the Co-op and Waitrose to find a solution.
Mr Tod commented:
"This is not good news for Weeke – particularly following the closure of the Nationwide. It’s particularly bad to lose the cash machine. You can get cashback from the Coop and some people can get cash from the Post Office when it's open, but that's not nearly as convenient."
Mr Oaten added:
"Even if the branch isn't heavily used, the cash machine is. It's an important service for local people and local shops. I've asked Barclays to reconsider leaving their cash machine there and I’m also asking the Co-op whether they can get a temporary replacement."
